Privacy Policy
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]
[LEGAL COMPANY NAME] ("askfindme", "we") runs the askfindme app. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use it, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and a password. We store the password only as a one-way hash.
- Traveller details: for each passenger: title, name, date of birth, gender, and contact details. If you choose to save a traveller, we can also store their passport number, issuing country and expiry date. Passport numbers are stored encrypted.
- Bookings: flights you book, passengers, ticket numbers, prices, extras (bags, seats), cancellations and refunds.
- Payments: our payment provider, Stripe, collects your card details. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a payment reference, the amount and the status.
- Device and notifications: a push notification token for your phone (if you allow notifications), and the messages we send you, which appear in your in-app Inbox.
- Technical data: server logs (such as time of requests and error details) used to keep the Service running and secure.
We do not collect your precise location.
2. How we use it
- To search flights, make and manage your bookings, and issue tickets.
- To process payments and refunds.
- To send confirmations, airline change alerts and flight reminders.
- To provide support, prevent fraud and keep the Service secure.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Who we share it with
We share only what is needed to provide the Service:
- Airlines and our flight booking provider (Duffel): passenger details and contact details needed to issue and manage tickets. This can include passport details when an airline requires them.
- Stripe: payment processing.
- Email and notification services: to send emails (Resend) and push notifications (Expo).
- Hosting and database providers: to run the Service (Render and Neon). Our servers are located in the United States.
- Authorities and advisers: when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, or with our professional advisers under confidentiality.
4. How long we keep it
- Booking, payment and refund records are kept as travel and accounting records for [RETENTION PERIOD, e.g. 7 years].
- When you delete your account, we delete your saved travellers (including passport details), your push tokens and your Inbox messages, and we anonymize your profile. Booking records are kept as described above.
- Server logs are kept for a limited time, [LOG RETENTION].
5. Security
We use encryption in transit, encrypt saved passport numbers, hash passwords, and limit staff access to personal data. No system is perfectly secure. Tell us at once if you think your account has been accessed without permission.
6. Your choices and rights
- You can edit your profile and saved travellers in the app, and delete your account (see the Terms for when this is possible).
- You can turn off push notifications in your phone settings.
- You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it by writing to support@askfindme.com. We will answer within the time the law requires.
- California residents: you have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion and correction, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising. [Lawyer to confirm the California wording.]
7. Children
The Service is for adults (18+). Adults may book travel for children and enter their details as passengers. We do not knowingly create accounts for children.
8. Changes
If we change this policy in an important way we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
